What are ScriptShark Story Notes?
A much more comprehensive report on specific trouble spots, this document is modeled after studio-style development notes (a studio document generated to improve the material). Story Notes focus less on critiquing scripts and more on improving them. Story Notes aim to help you delve deeper into the development issues of the screenplay than a simple Coverage Report. Rather than simply pointing out problems, they also provide a number of suggestions on how to improve the material. In the professional film community, Story Notes are usually generated between drafts of screenplays that have already been acquired or optioned by a studio or production company.

Which elements of my screenplay will Story Notes cover?
Typically, ScriptShark Story Notes explore areas such as character relationships, structure, plotting, character arc, thematic implementation, plot points, set-up, climax, and mechanics. While a number of other areas may also be covered, the focal points of each set of notes depend on the individual material's areas of need.

If the analyst doesn’t cover it in the Story Notes, does that mean it’s perfect?
In general, Story Notes address the most critical trouble spots in your script. If the Story Notes fail to mention certain characters, plot points, structural issues, etc., it doesn't mean they are problem free. Rather than worrying about them, however, focus on repairing the mentioned elements, which, in many cases, will work toward improving other areas of your project as a whole.

Can I choose the Analyst I would like to use?
For Story Notes only, you may request which analyst you would like to review and critique your material listed. To do so, visit our ScriptShark Analysts Page and simply mention their initials when you reach the Registration Page. Please note, however, this is only a request, and because of potential scheduling conflicts and time constraints, there is no way we can guarantee you will get the reader you request. Also, if you do request a specific Story Analyst, please allow for an additional week turnaround time when submitting.

Am I eligible for the Executive Market if I order Story Notes?
No, with the basic Story Notes package, you are not eligible to be considered for the Executive Market – you would be required to register for standard Story Notes and then resubmit for Coverage. With Notes Plus, you are able to accomplish both at a discounted rate.

Does the Story Notes service guarantee my project will eventually be eligible for the Executive Market?
Eligibility into the Executive Market is based solely upon the execution of the material. Because this is ultimately up to you, the writer, we cannot guarantee that the script will be ready. We can promise, however, that you will receive well thought-out, constructive notes on the script’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as some thoughts on how to improve it.

Will I receive a discount on future submissions?
Yes, ScriptShark does offer a 10% discount on all future submissions. Additionally, as a Story Notes customer, you are eligible for a $99 Comments Only Coverage resubmission. Click here to learn about additionaly qualifications for this discount.
