What is ScriptShark's Coverage service?
ScriptShark Coverage is designed to locate professional-caliber final drafts of screenplays, published books, and manuscripts. It is also a great tool if you’re looking to gauge the approximate market value of your material. Before submitting, you should feel as confident about your material as possible.

What is a Coverage Report?
A Coverage Report is a formal, unbiased review of literary material. In its truest form, it is a tool for executives, agents, managers, and producers. ScriptShark Coverage is the by-product of a Hollywood search mechanism aimed at filtering talent. The reports usually focus on flaws, with the goal of pinpointing professional-caliber screenplays and manuscripts. Unfortunately, these points aren't open for debate - they are how the reader felt about the material, good or bad.

If I get a Consider or Recommend, will you sell my script?
It's important to understand that ScriptShark is not a literary agency - so we don't negotiate sales or options. Should that opportunity arise while working with us as a member of the Executive Market, we will introduce you to a person that can help you sell your material. ScriptShark not only analyzes your material - but we help get it to people that can help turn your creation into professional work.

Is it difficult to receive a ‘Consider’ or ‘Recommend’?
Good material stands on its own. The creators of good material stand above the pack. ScriptShark only succeeds when you receive positive feedback. Because of this, we are always in the search for material that receives strong marks. However, because we access such a large professional community, our analyses tend to be harder than other similar services. We are looking for professional-caliber material.

Are Coverage Reports good development tools?
It's important to remember that coverage is much like a movie review: while it points out notable moments as well as flaws, it is not specifically designed to improve literary material. Even so, ScriptShark likes to layer its coverage with thoughtful comments that act as a solid starting point for development. If you’re looking for more in-depth comments, you should research our Story Notes or Notes Plus services. Although more expensive, the analysis is more extensive.

What if you don’t agree with your coverage?
ScriptShark only guarantees that your project will be read and written up as coverage, story notes,or treatment analysis by an experienced industry analyst. We do not guarantee that you will agree with the analyst. Often there will be discrepancies between what you are trying to convey and what the industry analyst picks up on their read and reports in the coverage. This is actually the benefit of the coverage process - it gives you a sense of what the typical industry reader sees and doesn’t see on any given single read of your material.

How do I know you’re not giving me a ‘pass’ just to make me resubmit?
Part of writing is honestly gauging the opinions you receive. Our readers have nothing to gain by being anything but directly honest in their analysis. And we, in no way, ever want them to try and lead you into a never-ending development game -- it just doesn't make sense to our business. We are so committed to this notion, that we work to keep a three submission limit in order to make you feel even more comfortable in our opinions. The reality is - we are successful when you are. Unfortunately, there is no black and white answer to what makes the perfect story, but top-notch writing will always find its way into the right hands.

Will I receive a discount on future submissions?
Yes, ScriptShark does offer a special $99 Comments Only resubmission for screenplays that have been previously covered by ScriptShark. Click here to learn about the qualifications for this discount.
